The entry rules of the Velocity Interoperability Network take effect today. The rules set out what may be brought into the Network, what may not, and what must be declared to an officer on arrival. They apply equally to holders of visas and to citizens travelling on a passport of the Network.

From today every device that will be connected to the Network must be certified to Network interoperability standards and registered at the point of entry. Registration records the device, its class and its holder, and remains valid for the period of the holder's stay. Devices are deregistered on departure.

Travellers carrying more than three connected devices, any device connected to a network outside the Velocity Interoperability Network in the previous thirty days, cryptographic hardware or removable storage exceeding one terabyte must declare them on arrival. Declared items are inspected and are normally released the same day.

The full rules, the classes of device and the registration procedure are published on this site under Entry Rules and Device Registration. Travellers who are unsure whether an item may be brought into the Network are asked to write to the Department before they travel.
